ALFA ROMEO, DEVELOPMENT, EURO+DRIVE, TUNING -

Lately, the EC mail server has been tagged with numerous emails about news from other sources, claiming that the Bosch MED17 ECU with a manufacturing date of 2017 (appears as 17-XX-XX on the ECU) contains a high level of tuning protection and RSA encryption that is preventing others from connecting and remapping the ECU.   Below, the MED17.3.5 ECU from the Giulia QV. (Note the manufacturing date).   The MED17 ECU has models found in many vehicles that we work on, like the Alfa Romeo 4C, Giulia QV, and more. Simply put, this information is not entirely true (at least...

STOCK Camshaft Intake: 249 deg Exhaust: 216 deg 7.5mm lobe lift EUROCOMPULSION Performance Camshaft (Made by C&B, Italy) Intake: 251deg duration stock lobe lift Exhaust: 242 deg duration 8.5mm lobe lift  Little change was made to the intake lobe because we can do quite a bit with multi-air tuning. This also allows a decent idle, and no significant degradation of fuel economy or emission characteristics. This cam provides very good power from 3000rpm up to about 6800, with a realistic usable 7000rpm redline.

The Phase 3 tune brings the Fiat 500T / Abarth up to about 300 flywheel horsepower. This tune is specifically designed to give you all the power the car can handle without breaking things in the driveline. This tune requires a turbo upgrade, intercooler upgrade, and various other upgrades. We also strongly suggest a high performance camshaft and water injection.     Before we go into how we get this much power, let’s discuss the transaxle. Torque breaks transaxles. Torque is what the transaxle feels, not horsepower. So the objective here was to raise the horsepower up to 300 without increasing...

In a continuation of our datalogging on the Fiat 124 Spider, we tackle our next variable that could potentially affect factory safety and performance parameters: the high flow exhaust system. EUROCOMPULSION has been working with the 1.4L Multiair Turbo engine since its 2012 debut in the U.S. with the introduction of the 500 Abarth. Throughout this period, we have tested and run through the ringer an array of exhaust options including smaller diameter setups, larger diameter piping, catless setups, high flow cat units, and complete exhaust system replacements from the turbo back.  Though the 124 Spider operates on the same powertrain,...

Documentation of the air/fuel mixture on the Fiat 124 Spider. This datalogging was done using an external wideband system, and OBDII monitoring. Our Fiat 124 Spider is equipped with our Euro+Drive Lite piggyback tuning unit. On a 3rd gear, full powerband pull, the ECU's fuel control system targets and maintains safe air fuel mixtures with raised boost and power.
